New to RC drifting
Everything you need to know, from choosing a car to your first slide.
What RC drifting is
RC drifting is not about being fastest. It is about sliding a car sideways through a corner, smoothly and under control. A gyro in the car corrects the steering for you, so it is easier to learn than it looks.
GP00 comes in 1/24 or 1/28 scale, about the size of your hand, small enough to drive in a living room.
Which version
Never owned an RC car? Get the GP00 ready-to-run. The electronics are installed; charge it and drive. Already have a motor, ESC and gyro, or want to build it yourself? Get the chassis kit.
Where to drive
The flatter and smoother the floor, the better. Tile or wood at home both work, or get a purpose-built drift track. Carpet and rough concrete do not.
Your first drift
- Drive slowly in a straight line to get a feel for throttle and steering.
- Drive a wide circle. While turning, add throttle gradually until the rear starts to slide out.
- Once the rear slides, before the momentum dies, steer the other way a little and use the throttle to control the angle.
- When you can hold a circle, try a figure eight.

What comes next
Once you are comfortable, try different tires and bodies, or upgrade the electronics. For more to adjust, look at RW00SR.
